Samsung Galaxy S4 Price | Samsung Galaxy S 4 Will Cost More Than iPhone on AT&T

Samsung’s new Galaxy smartphone is expected to pose a serious challenge to Apple’s iPhone. But shoppers may be turned off by the Galaxy’s higher price tag.
AT&T on Thursday said that customers can order the Galaxy S 4 on April 16 for $250. That is $50 more than the cheapest iPhone 5 on a contract. Generally, the price tag is the most important factor when consumers consider purchasing electronics, so the $50 difference between the starting prices of the two phones may steer AT&T customers toward the iPhone.

It is unclear why the Galaxy S 4 costs more than an iPhone. Samsung’s last flagship phone, the Galaxy S III, matched the iPhone’s price. Jan Dawson, a telecom analyst at Ovum, pointed out that according to estimates by IHS iSuppli, a components research firm, the parts for the Galaxy S 4 cost more than the iPhone 5’s. The S 4’s bigger screen, new processor and new sensors are adding to its cost, according to iSuppli.
AT&T and Samsung did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The iPhone 5 was the best-selling smartphone model over the holiday season, but Samsung, which sells multiple models of smartphones, is the biggest seller of smartphones in the world over all. Analysts have said the Galaxy S 4, which will be available on all four major American carriers, presents a major challenge to the iPhone, especially overseas. But they agree that the iPhone is likely to retain the No. 1 spot in the United States this year.

Samsung is about to launch new Galaxy Smart Phones | Samsung upcoming mobiles | Samsung planing to upgrade five devices to Android 5.0

Android is a constantly moving target for devices. The Android device you buy today will inevitably be running an old version in just a few months time. How important that is depends on the individual, but if you use a Samsung smartphone or tablet, you’ll be interested to know that a list of planned Android updates has just leaked, including which devices can expect to receive Android 5.0.
The pre-list, as it’s known, has been leaked to SamMobile by an insider. It shows which devices can expect to receive an update to Android 4.2.2 and the inevitable Android 5.0.
The just unveiled Galaxy S4 is set to ship with Android 4.2.2, but Samsung is planning to upgrade 17 devices to the current latest version of Google’s OS. Those devices include:

  • GT-I8160 – Galaxy Ace 2
  • GT-I8350 – Galaxy Beam
  • GT-I8730 – Galaxy Express
  • GT-S6810 – Galaxy Fame
  • GT-I9080 – Galaxy Grand
  • GT-I9082 – Galaxy Grand DUOS
  • GT-N7000 – Galaxy Note
  • GT-I9260 – Galaxy Premier
  • GT-I8190 – Galaxy S III mini
  • GT-I9070 – Galaxy S Advance
  • GT-I9100 – Galaxy S II
  • GT-I9105 – Galaxy S II Plus
  • GT-S6310 – Galaxy Young
  • GT-S6312 – Galaxy Young DUOS
  • GT-S7710 – Galaxy X Cover 2
It’s worth noting that for the above devices, that’s as far as Samsung expects to go in terms of updates. As soon as each one is running Android 4.2.2 the OS updates will stop. And by then, you’ll probably be looking around for a new device anyway.
Now we come to the unannounced Android 5.0. Samsung has decided that only variants of five of its existing devices will receive an update to Key Lime Pie. They include the Galaxy S3 $189.99 at Amazon Wireless , Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy 8.0, and Galaxy 10.1. In all cases, the LTE versions of the phones and tablets will get the update, as will the WiFi versions of the tablets.
As this is a pre-list that Samsung didn’t intend to make public, there’s every chance that the devices receiving updates will change before they are officially announced. But if Android updates are a major consideration when choosing to buy a new device, then one of the later Galaxy S smartphones or Galaxy tablets looks like a safe bet if you intend on investing now.
As for when we can expect to hear about Android 5.0, the safe bet is during the Google’s I/O developer conference held in May. By then, the Galaxy S4 will probably have been in the hands of consumers for about a month, and the question of when Samsung will roll out the Android 5.0 update is bound to be asked. It’s reassuring to see the company is already planning ahead.

news about Samsung GALAXY S4 -

Apple‘s global marketing chief Phil Schiller took a shot at rivals Android and Samsung, saying that Google‘s mobile operating system software is “fragmented,” that most users are running older versions of Android and that buyers of Samsung’s new Galaxy smartphone to be introduced tomorrow may be saddled with old software as well.
“With their own data, only 16 percent of Android users are on [a] year-old version of the operating system,” Schiller said in an interview with Reuters. “Over 50 percent are still on software that is two years old. A really big difference.”
Schiller’s comments come the day before Samsung is set to introduce the new Galaxy S4 smartphone at a big event in New York. Samsung, which has been outspending Apple in advertising, is counting on the device to help extend its lead over the iPhone, which accounts for more than half of Apple’s sales.

Schiller told Reuters that fragmentation, or the number of different versions of the Android in the marketplace, is a problem for users buying smartphones powered by Google’s software. “That extends to the news we are hearing this week that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is being rumored to ship with an OS that is nearly a year old,” he said. “Customers will have to wait to get an update.”
He repeated his takedowns of Samsung and Google in additional interviews . “What I see is a reality that we’re doing really well, and it’s not always being reported,” he told Bloomberg News. “Android is often given as a free replacement for a feature phone and the experience isn’t as good as an iPhone,” he told the Wall Street Journal.
While it’s rare for Apple to speak out directly against a competitor, this isn’t the first time that Schiller has commented on Android. In a tweet last week, he encouraged users to “be safe out there” and pointed them to a “Mobile Threat Report” by F-Secure Labs that says the rise in popularity of Google’s mobile software has led to a rise in Android malware. Android accounted for 79 percent of mobile threats in 2012. Apple’s iOS threat share: 0.7 percent, according to the report.
